Ellen Page has married her girlfriend Emma Portner, confirming the news on Instagram.
‘Can’t believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife,’ the actress wrote alongside an image of two hands both wearing rings; Emma shared the same image but emphasised the word my, writing: ‘I get to call this incredible woman MY WIFE! @ellenpage I LOVE YOU.’
It is not known how long the pair have been together but Ellen began sharing picture of Emma, a dance teacher, in the summer of 2017.
Emma currently teaches the Broadway Dance Center but is originally from Ottawa, Canada; Ellen is from Nova Scotia.
Ellen came out as gay in 2014 when she spoke at the Human Rights Campaign’s Time To THRIVE conference for LGBTQ (Lesian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning) youth.
It was an emotional speech which saw the Canadian actress admit she is ‘sick of lying by omission’ and told audiences: ‘I’m here today because I am gay. And because maybe I can make a difference.’
