Demi Lovato has been forced to apologise to her fans after getting baptised in Israel.
The star recently enjoyed a trip to the Middle East country, where she ended up sharing her spiritual journey with her Instagram followers.
However, after posting up a string of pictures from her holiday, the Sorry Not Sorry hitmaker has since received backlash for praising the biblical Holy Land.
After turning off comments under her post, the popstar has shared a now deleted message to her 74.5million followers on her story.
Expressing the fact she feels extremely frustrated, the 26-year-old wrote: I accepted a free trip to Israel in exchange for a few posts.
No one told me there would be anything wrong with going or that I could possibly be offending anyone.
She added: With that being said, Im sorry if Ive hurt or offended anyone, that was not my intention.
The star claimed that no one had told her there could be potential backlash from her trip, adding: This was meant to be a spiritual experience for me, NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT.
Now I realize it hurt people and for that Im sorry.
She continued: Sorry Im not more educated, and sorry for thinking this trip was just a spiritual experience.
The former Disney Channel star said she was going against all advice but was apologizing because it feels right to me.
She rounded off her post: Id rather get in trouble for being authentic to myself than staying quiet to please other people. I love my fans, all of them, from all over the world.
