Cuphead – coming soon(-ish) to a TV near you

Two of gamings most unlikely heroes are getting their own TV show, as the old school 1930s style animation comes to Netflix.

Indie smash Cuphead is the latest video game to be turned into a Netflix show, with original developer Studio MDHR set to help Cuphead and Mugman become TV stars.

The Cuphead Show will feature the same 1930s art style as the game, although Netflix will handle the animation themselves rather than Studio MDHR – so you neednt worry that the Cuphead DLC is in danger of being delayed again.

However, theres currently no release date, or even a year, so it sounds like it wont be out any time soon.

Its safe for kids, but written so there are also things that adults find funny and appeals to a wider audience. Its not a toddler show or a little kids cartoon. Its safe to say that [the showrunners are] aiming for the same kind of vibe that the game hints at. Theyll be taking that idea and expanding it, Studio MDHR told IGN.

Coming to you in full color and cine-sound, it's…The Cuphead Show! Witness the wondrous Inkwell Isles as you've never seen them before in an original series inspired by classic animation styles of the 1930s. Now in production by the talented team at @Netflix Animation! pic.twitter.com/4xA59eVLra

The plot of the show hasnt been decided on yet but it apparently wont be a re-telling of the games story, but rather something completely new.

The show will be executive produced by David Wasson (Mickey Mouse) and Cosmo Segurson (Rockos Modern Life: Static Cling), with supervising directors Clay Morrow (Mickey Mouse) and Adam Paloian (SpongeBob SquarePants).
