Comedy superstar Kevin Smith narrowly avoided dying from a massive heart attack late Sunday night.
The “Clerks” director announced the news on Twitter early Monday morning, writing, “After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!”

This is obviously not a good situation at all, and it sounds like Smith got dangerously close to getting his ticket to the afterlife punched.
This tweet is also a pretty good example of why he’s been so successful in comedy. He was inches away from death, and he’s pretty much joking about it on Twitter. You have to respect that kind of attitude.
I don’t think most people would have thrown in “I’m still above ground!” at the end of announcing they nearly died. It takes a special sense of humor in my opinion to be cracking jokes after nearly dying.
It’s a perfect example of why Smith has been incredibly popular and successful in Hollywood.
