Cher is returning to Australia for her first national tour in more than a decade.
The American pop star was buoyed by her recent appearance at Sydney's Mardi Gras and will return for several big-budget stadium shows across the country later this year.
The concerts are strategically timed, given the Grammy award-winner stars in the highly-anticipated Mamma Mia! sequel due out in July. Cher will play Meryl Streep's on-screen mother, and therefore the main character's grandmother, in the all-ABBA singalong.
Cher – whose career spans six decades – headlined the 2017 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras as part of the festival's 40th anniversary celebrations. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull managed to nab a selfie with the 71-year-old popstar.
However, she later apologised to her 3.5 million Twitter followers after being informed of the Coalition's policy surrounding the recent same-sex marriage plebiscite. Cher has long been an outspoken advocate for LGBTIQ rights and even refused an invitation to perform at the Sochi Winter Olympics over Russia's anti-gay laws.

Cher hasn't toured Australia since 2005. Her whirlwind 2018 tour will feature a 90-minute rendition of some of her greatest hits, including Believe, If I Could Turn Back Time, Strong Enough and her breakout single I Got You Babe.
She will kick off her Australian tour in Newcastle on Wednesday, September 26, followed by shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Her final show will be held at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on Thursday, October 18.
Tickets go on sale on Friday, May 18 from 10am at livenationentertainment.com.
