Hollywood can be an incredibly difficult place to raise children in and Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas decided, quite simply, not to do it.
The 49-year-old actress and husband Michael Douglas made a concerted effort to bring up their children, Carys, 15, and Dylan, 18, away from the limelight.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the NYC junket for her brand-spanking new Facebook Watch series, Queen America, the actress revealed: Theyve kinda been removed from the crazy world of Hollywood or even the crazy world of Manhattan.
The teenagers here in Manhattan, theres a maturity that comes too quick I think.
She added that despite having shielded her children away from the limelight, she got lucky with how they turned out.

Weve kind of shielded then away, but theyre incredibly mature for their tender years. They get it, and thats just a thing [where] I think that I just got lucky.
Zeta-Jones was a proud mama when, in September she dropped Dylan off to University of Rhode Island.
The doting mum showed off her sons dorm room on his Instagram page, choosing an arty black and white filter for the photo. Husband Michael Douglas and Carys meanwhile helped with the move.
The video was captioned: Let the lectures really begin! I love you Dylan. Good luck in the next exciting and enlightening chapter of your life.

The video included an image of Dylan hugging his sister goodbye and a couple of cute throwback pictures from when he was just a toddler.
Zeta-Jones also talked about her relationship with her daughter, calling it really, really close.
My daughter and I have a really, really close relationship. I always say to her, “A problem shared is a problem halved. You just speak it out,”
Im so blessed that I have that very liberal communication with her.
The actress added that Carys has a wonderful communication with her dad, too.

Its not just, “Oh Ill speak to mum about that.” I think thats just Michael and I encouraging that at a very early age and then being around dinner tables where we talk very openly about everything and freely and all that stuff, so Im very lucky.
