U2 front man Bono has opened up about that time he almost died, during an interview with Rolling Stone.
Please note use of comma – he did not almost die during the interview.
The Irish rocker, 57, was being quizzed by the music magazine when he made the revelation – however when pressed for details by Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner, who asked him to tell him what happened, Bono replied ‘Well, I mean, I don’t want to’.
WTF man, you can’t just go around telling people you almost died and then refuse to dish up the goss on how it all went down.
Wait, actually, you’re Bono – continue…
Referring to whatever happened – which was said to have been during recording for the band’s latest album Songs Of Experience – as an ‘extinction event’ Bono added: …’It could be psychological or it could be physical. And, yes, it was physical for me, but I think I have spared myself all that soap opera.
‘It’s one thing if you were talking about it in a place of record like Rolling Stone, but by the time it gets to your local tabloid it is just awful. It becomes the question that everyone is asking.’
Fair call, Bono.
If fans were wanting a snippet of what the singer is on about, though, the album is said to explore some of the themes that Bono has been contemplating since this apparent ‘extinction event’ as the songs explore the idea of ‘survival’.
Let’s be honest, with this band’s track record, it’s probably going to be automatically loaded onto your iTunes anyway.
Speaking of music, Bono also shared his own feelings on the state of today’s music, lamenting how it’s gotten ‘girly’.
(Got to say, bad choice of word there, Bono.)

He went on to add: ‘And there are some good things about that, but hip-hop is the only place for young male anger at the moment – and that’s not good.
‘When I was 16, I had a lot of anger in me. You need to find a place for it and for guitars, whether it is with a drum machine – I don’t care. The moment something becomes preserved, it is fucking over. You might as well put it in formaldehyde.’
