The wife of Olympic skier Bode Miller has shared a heartbreaking picture of her holding her dying daughter who drowned in a swimming pool.

Morgan Beck used Instagram to share the picture of the 19-month-old toddler, Emeline, who died on 10 June.

She was found by her mother floating in the water of a neighbour's pool in Orange County, California.

The couple have posted numerous pictures which they hope will raise awareness of accidental drowning.

The picture shows Ms Beck, 31, with Emeline hooked up to medical equipment as paramedics battled to save her life.

In a post accompanying the picture, Ms Beck wrote: "I wish I could have one more day to hold you, but until that day comes, continue to work through me and give me the strength to bring awareness, my love.

"I told you as I held you in this moment that you could still change the world, you could still move mountains.

"Every step we take forward is because of you and Levi. Your footprint will forever be left on this world. I love you, My baby girl."

Levi is the planned name for the baby boy the couple are expecting in October. They also have a three-year-old son.

Ms Beck and Miller revealed the agony of their loss in a recent TV interview when they compared the risk of childhood drowning to a "lion" or a "kidnapper" that could take the life of a child in 30 seconds.

She said: "And the moment those 30 seconds is up, the likelihood of you getting your child back is pretty close to zero."

Ms Beck revealed she said prayers every day to be able to go back to the day Emeline died.

She said: "There is not a day that goes by and I don't pray for an opportunity to go back to that day and make it different.

"But now we have the opportunity to make other parents' days different."

Miller is the most successful male American alpine skier of all time, winning six Winter Olympics medals, including a gold in Vancouver in 2010. He retired from ski racing in 2017.
