SINGAPORE – Making delicate Japanese cherry and peach buds flower in the heat and humidity of Singapore's tropical climate is no mean feat.

Mr Ng Boon Gee, senior director of conservatory operations at Gardens by the Bay, tells The Straits Times: "When we started Sakura Matsuri five years ago in 2016, we achieved the unthinkable in the horticultural world – to make cherry blossoms bloom in the tropics."
