Black Ops 4 Beta: How to get Call of Duty PS4 beta code? When does it start?

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII is the latest FPS effort from Activision and developer Treyarch, set to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 12, 2018.

Ahead of the title's proper launch, though, Activision is setting up a series of beta tests for the game, allowing people to get a taste of what's to come.

This iteration of the game is doing away with a traditional single-player mode, so there's a lot of pressure on the multiplayer offerings (one of which is a Battle Royale mode).

To that end, Treyarch and Activision have a lot to prove with the beta tests. The betas for Black Ops IIII are staggered from platform to platform and will be going live at different times for each console and PC, so we've written the guide below to help you figure out what's on offer when, and where.

You can read much more about the game – including rumours, development stories and information on the influential Zombies mode – here.

If you want access to the beta, you will have to pre-order Black Ops 4. A code will then be sent to you courtesy of Activision.

In previous years, Activision's own social media pages (Facebook, Twitter et al) have given away beta codes closer to the launches of the tests – so if you're not keen on pre-ordering a code, it may be worth looking into these accounts

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – When will the Xbox One beta start?

Xbox One players will be later to the fold, thanks to that Sony exclusivity period.

Players keen to try the beta for Black Ops IIII will be able to jump on the test from August 10 to August 13.

The beta will go live at 10am PT, 1pm ET, 6pm BST and end at the same time on the latter date.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – When will the PC beta start?

Similarly to Xbox One players, PC users will have to wait until after the first PS4 beta weekend for their chance to play.

That means PC players will be able to play the test (via Battlenet) from August 10 to August 13.

The beta will go live at 10am PT, 1pm ET, 6pm BST and end at the same time on the latter date.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 BETA – Confirmed Modes

Activision has confirmed that there will be five playable modes across the beta tests for the upcoming CoD game. They are:

• Team Deathmatch
• Domination
• Hardpoint
• Control
• Search and Destroy

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 BETA – Confirmed Maps

So far, we only know that six maps will be included in the first beta tests. There is currently no official information about what these specific maps will be. We do however know that 10 of the game's specialists (read: classes) will be playable, too.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 BETA – Other Features

Activision has revealed that the Pick 10 system will be returning in the feature.

This basically gives you a numbered quota to fill out when building your class, balancing the perks and weapon upgrades you can take into battle with you. Special Equipment, which each class has been built around, will also be present in the beta.

Neither the developer nor the publisher has announced a level cap for the beta – but we do know it'll start low and get higher for the second test on PS4 so players shouldn't top out too early.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 BETA – Blackout/Battle Royale

It's worth noting that this first beta is not the beta that will allow players to try out Call of Duty's take on the Battle Royale genre.

That honor goes to a separate beta test that will be held in September.

Not much else is known about this test yet.
