A new Westworld smartphone app has allegedly reused code from Fallout Shelter, and Bethesda is not happy about it.
Game review: Jurassic World Evolution brings dinosaurs back to life
Bethesda know their way around a court room. When theyre not bullying indie developers about what they can call their games theyre winning $500 million lawsuits against Facebook, over allegations of stolen computer code.
And that seems to be at the heart of their latest legal battle, this time involving Warner Bros. and their new Westworld mobile game.
Developer Behaviour Interactive worked on an early version of Bethesdas Fallout Shelter and according to website TMZ its alleged that they reused a lot of the same design, artwork, and code in order to make the new Westworld.
The two games do look quite similar, especially as Westworld also involves controlling the game world from a secret underground bunker.

But the reason Bethesda are so sure their game is being copied is because the new Westworld app has exactly the same bugs as Fallout Shelter when Behaviour worked on it.

Whether thats enough of a smoking gun for the jury remains to be seen but considering their recent run of success we wouldnt bet against Bethesdas lawyers.
Westworld is out now and Fallout Shelter was released on PlayStation 4 and Switch last week, its also been available on Xbox One, PC, and mobile for years.
