Belly actor Louie Rankin has died in a car crash.

TMZ reports that the Jamaican actor was involved in a fatal car accident in Ontario, Canada on Monday (30 September).

The publication claims the crash involved a transport truck and another vehicle, while further details surrounding the incident are yet to surface.

Louie, who is known for his Grammy Award winning 1992 hit Typewriter and calling himself the Original Don Dada, is thought to have died from injuries he sustained in the crash.

The star was best known for starring in Shottas as Teddy Bruckshot and 1998 crime drama Belly, in which he played the character Ox alongside Nas and DMX.

In 2016, Louie and Nas both appeared in DJ Khaleds music video for his track Nas Album Done.

News of Louies death was confirmed via his verified Twitter account.
