Ashton Kutcher has called for Ivanka Trumps help, as he revealed he held his birthday party in the same venue as the California shooting.

Back in February, the actors wife Mila Kunis threw the star a party for his 40th birthday at the Thousand Oaks bar, where 12 people were tragically shot dead, as well as the gunman, this week.

Taking to Twitter, the Two And A Half Men star reached out to the presidents daughter and asked for her to plea with her father about gun reform.

Writing to his 18million followers, Ashton said in a string of tweets: My wife threw me a birthday party this year at the Borderline. Only reason we are alive is the shooter chose a different night.

My heart goes out to the victims. Ill say it again… Gun Reform Now! Politicians need to stop standing behind the dollar & Protect the people!

Donald Trump tweeted about the tragedy, and wrote: I have been fully briefed on the terrible shooting in California.

Law Enforcement and First Responders, together with the FBI, are on scene. 13 people, at this time, have been reported dead. Likewise, the shooter is dead, along with the first police officer to enter the bar.

He added: Great bravery shown by police. California Highway Patrol was on scene within 3 minutes, with first officer to enter shot numerous times.

That Sheriffs Sergeant died in the hospital. God bless all of the victims and families of the victims. Thank you to Law Enforcement.

The gunman, who killed 12 people at the bar holding a student night, has since been named as former Marine and PTSD-sufferer Ian David Long.

Long, 28, drove his moms car to Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, California at 11:20pm local time Thursday, where he shot a doorman and cashier before opening fire inside the bar room.
