But that didnt stop Angelina Jolie spoiling Shiloh, 12, and Knox, 10, on a trip to shops in Los Feliz on Wednesday.
The actress, 43, is surrounded by reports that its likely Brad will succeed in their bitter child custody battle and on the same day as her family day out he was seen cheerily emerging from his lawyers office.
Instead, Angelina put the time and enthusiasm into her children, buying them new toys and laughing along as they walked through the car park together.
She was dressed in top-to-toe black but couldnt be mistaken by her oversized sunglasses and effortless air of elegance.

Knox, whose twin Vivienne was absent from the outing, looked thrilled to be leaving the store with a toy Nerf gun.
Older sister Shiloh carried two plastic bags worth of bits, just ahead of them.
Angelina thrust the custody battle with her ex-husband into the spotlight once again last week when she accused him of paying no meaningful child support since the split.

She is currently bidding for full custody of Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara, Knox and Vivienne but it now appears shes fighting a losing battle.
According to Us Weekly, [Angelina] sees the writing on the wall: Joint custody is a done deal, and there is nothing she can do to stop it.
Brad insists hes paid $9.3million to Angelina since the split, but she says $8million is for a home loan.
