Kristin Kreuk, who played female protagonist Lana Lang in the hit CW series “Smalleville,” has finally addressed her alleged involvement in the sex cult “Nxivm” (pronounced “nexium”).
Kreuk reportedly got involved with Nxivm around 2005 and later recruited her costar Allison Mack, who soon became one of the prominent leaders of the cult.
Nxivm was thinly veiled as a self-help group that recruited women based on blackmail and mental manipulation. It branded its sex slaves and limited them to 500-800 calories a day.
Kreuk reportedly cut ties with Nxivm in 2012 after a report in a local New York newspaper broke the story about Nxivms exploitation of young girls.
But she had remained private about her involvement, even when the cults leader, Keith Raniere, was arrested in Mexico on Sunday.
On late Thursday night, however, Kreuk broke her silence and addressed her alleged involvement in a long note on Twitter.
She claims she got involved with Nxivm to deal with her “previous shyness” but “never experienced any illegal or nefarious activity.” Kreuk also claims she “had minimal contact with those who were still involved,” and is “deeply disturbed and embarrassed to have been associated with NXIVM.”

Its unclear whether Kreuk remained in contact with her former costar and friend Allison Mack, who stayed on with Nxivm as a major sex slave recruiter and is expected to be arrested in Mexico soon.
