Celebrity Big Brother has returned to our screens on Tuesday night with an all-female line-up to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the suffragette movement – but where exactly have you seen housemate Amanda Barrie?
The Channel 5 reality show kicked off with a bang tonight, and after Sarah Harding won in 2017, CBB bosses have ensured they have gifted viewers with entertaining celebs to keep them tuned in throughout the series.
Here is everything you need to know about Amanda – and her incredible story
Who is Amanda Barrie?
Age: 82
Occupation: Actress
Where have we seen her before?
The former Coronation Street actress was born in 1935, making her one the oldest ever housemates on CBB.
The star has been working as an actress since 1959 and has starred in two Carry on films, but is more known for her role of now deceased Alma Sedgewick (or Baldwin) in ITV soap Coronation Street.
She also starred as inmate Ben Tull in prison drama Bad Girls.
What is her story?
Amanda famously came out as bisexual at the age of 67 and entered into her second marriage nearly three years ago at 79.
She was once married to husband Robin and then tied the knot again with long-term partner Hilary Bonner in September 2014
Speaking about her sexuality she said: ‘When I did my autobiography [It’s Not A Rehearsal], I was being hounded by people asking about my sexuality – which had always been a confusion to me, never mind anyone else.
‘So I did the book because I thought, “I’m bloody well putting my side of how it is.” I wanted it off my chest.’
What do we want to see from her?
Some wise inputs when there is some drama in the house? Also, some behind the scenes Corrie goss would be fab as well.
Celebrity Big Brother airs 9pm on Channel 5.
