Epic Games has revealed that in the future pins could help you advance to the next round of a tournament or help you qualify to win prizes.
There will be some events that occur across multiple rounds which will require players to have earned a pin to qualify to compete in the next round.
What are Fortnite tournaments?
The tournament option can be found in the new Events tab that can be found in the game.
The tournaments will include solo, duo and squad competitions and let players complete alongside their friends.

Each of them will include a start date and an end date for when players can enter.
The tournaments will be open to players on all devices and players who decide to compete will have to opt in for cross-play in order to play.
Players will be able to perform well in each match by securing eliminations as well as progressing through the game with top 5 and top 3 finishes or getting a Victory Royale.
Each new session has players starting on an equal footing and they are matched against opponents with similar scores as the session progresses.
Epic Games has said that the tournament mode will continue to develop over the next few months and it will soon include events that take place over multiple rounds.
The in-game tournament system will also host the Fortnite World Cup next year.
