The Witcher 4 – What we already know:
The popular Witcher trilogy has come to an end, but not the story of The Witcher.
Based on the novel series The Witcher, by Andrej Sapkowski, it takes place in a medieval fantasy world.
The story follows Geralt of Rivia, who is a travelling monster hunter with supernatural powers.
Although 11 years have passed since the Witcher series began, fans still want to continue the journey.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed an addition to The Witcher series will come, but it wont be called The Witcher 4.
CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński told the Polish finance site Bankier: “The first three Witchers were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game The Witcher 4.
“This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher, created by us for over a dozen years.
“The Witcher is one of two franchises on which to build in the future activities of the company. Today, unfortunately, I can not reveal anything more.”
However, for the sake of this article, we will stick with The Witcher 4 until we have a new name.

The Witcher 4 release date:
As CD Projekt Red are currently hard at work on Cyberpunk 2077, The next Witcher game will likely be a while away.
Cyberpunk 2077 itself is a few years away from being completed, so expect to wait longer than that.
All hands are on deck for the massive projekt, which has nearly 350 developers working on it, making it “the largest in the history of the studio so far”.
The Witcher 4 rumours:
While there will be another addition to the Witcher series, the end has come for Geralt.
This will be no surprise to those who have completed Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.
However, it does not mean its the end of the franchise, and there will likely be a new protagonist.
CD Projekt founder Martin Iwinksi told Game Informer: “It will be unfair to the fans of the series to discontinue making new Witcher games.
“We definitely are not annualising a franchise or anything, its about the experience. The world of The Witcher is gigantic and its great to tell these stories.
“Its too early to talk about it, but its not like were forgetting about the brand. It wouldnt be fair to the fans.
“We work within this universe for over a dozen years now and I dont think its going to be the end of it.”

Those who have finished The Witcher trilogy, they will know its the end of Geralts story.
The voice actor of Geralt, Doug Cokle, thinks it may be time to make Ciri the centre character.
He told Gameractor: “This is my own opinion, and CD Projekt Red know what they are doing, and I have no idea what the plan is, but if I was CD Projekt Red, I would make The Witcher 4, but I would be focusing on Ciri.
“In The Witcher 3 she hints at visiting other worlds, and I think a game around her visiting those different worlds would be a cool Witcher 4.”
