What is remarkable about tech policy at the EU level is how little of it is developed and debated by men. If Silicon Valley is infested with bro culture, in Brussels its about the sisterhood — especially in the European Parliament. Whether its robots, blockchain, copyright, 5G or privacy, virtually all the leading MEPs addressing the digital revolution are women like Eva Maydell, Dita Charanzová, Marietje Schaake, Mady Delvaux, Eva Kaili, Sophie in t Veld, Emma McClarkin, Pilar del Castillo Vera, Kaja Kallas and Julia Reda.

An exodus, however, may be on its way: Kallas recently left Parliament for Estonian national politics; Schaake will not re-contest her seat; Redas German Pirate Party is not polling well enough to see her get reelected.
