Shiny Caterpie in Pokemon GO: How to catch Shiny Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree in November (Pic: POKEMON GO)
Pokemon GO November Field Research just launched and now a new wave of field research is available from Pokestops along with a brand new Pokemon – Shedinja – to catch through the Research Breakthrough Task.
The initial announcement simply read: Get ready, Trainers. Field Research tasks focusing on Bug-type Pokémon are coming this November! Collect enough stamps during November to earn a Research Breakthrough and get an opportunity to catch Shedinja!
However, like every month we get a brand new shiny to celebrate the theme and for November the theme is Bugs.
That's why there's now three brand new Shiny Pokemon to capture in the game.
Namely in the form of Shiny Caterpie and it's evolved forms, Shiny Metapod and Shiny Butterfree.
Keep reading for everything you need to know for catching this new shiny.

At the time of writing, it's unknown exactly how many ways you can encounter a Shiny Caterpie in the game – or equally if it will change through November.
For now though, we can say for certain that your best bet will be in the wild.
Equally, it's worth remembering that it's not possible to encounter a Shiny Metapod or Shiny Butterfree in the wild either.
Also, this goes without saying but when you do find that Shiny Caterpie you will need a lot of candy to evolve yourself a Shiny Metapod and Butterfree as well.
Keep reading as we've broken down all of the potential ways you might be able to encounter a Shiny Caterpie moving forward.
At the time of writing the egg hatches haven't changed since the end of the Halloween event. And Caterpie is not currently available in eggs.
Raid Battles:
Caterpie is not currently a raid boss, so that rules that option out.
In the Wild:
Caterpie is spawning quite frequently in the wild due to the slightly increased Bug Type rates in November. However, to increase your chances of encountering a shiny, you want to go somewhere spawning as many Caterpie as possible.
We'd suggest that to boost your chances you should head over to the Silph Road Global Nest Atlas to find your nearest Drifblim nest, because obviously, the more you encounter, the higher your odds.
