The Hunter Valley has landed a musical coup with American pop superstar Miley Cyrus tipped to perform with her father Billy Ray next Saturday at Roche Estate.
Cyrus senior is headlining the first Country In The Vines alongside Kasey Chambers and John Williamson in what will be his first Australian tour in 25 years.
However, the performance in the NSW Hunter Valley has suddenly become more attractive.
Miley Cyrus, 25, is among the biggest pop stars in the world and commands more mainstream interest than her country-orientated father.
After beginning her career on TV show Hannah Montana, Miley controversially adopted a more adult image as she scored major hits with songs like Wrecking Ball and Malibu.
Miley is a constant visitor to our shores due to her romantic relationship with Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.
Billy Ray kicks off his Australian tour on Thursday at The Palms at Crown, in Melbourne, and he also performs in Brisbane on March 25, but Miley is only expected to join the Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker at Roche Estate.
The pair performed a duet on Billy Ray’s latest album Set The Record Straight and the 56-year-old told the Newcastle Herald last October it was among his proudest moments in the studio.
“Miley joins me on this album, we sing a song called Stand, like stand for what you believe in and what’s right,” Billy Ray said.
“Don’t just talk about it, be the change. We actually cut this song a few years ago, right about the time we started doing Hannah Montana and it was a great piece of music that got lost in the shuffle, so I put it back on this album.
“I’m anxious for people to hear it. Lots of people have said ‘how did you get Stevie Nicks?’ No that’s Miley, she had that sound back then. It’s a strong song and a very important song.”
