An Avengers comic has been banned from the city of Rio de Janeiro by mayor Marcelo Crivella over a gay kiss.
Taking to Twitter, Crivella claimed that the ban was over a need to protect the children of the city.
He said that it was not right for children to have early access to subjects that do not agree with their ages.
Copies of Avengers: The Childrens Crusade along with other books were rounded up by organisers of the 19th International Book Biennial of Rio de Janeiro.
Childrens Crusade Volume 9 features the first kiss between same-sex couple Wiccan and Hulkling.
Crivella spoke to the camera in a video shared on Twitter; the translation reads: Guys, we need to protect our children.
As a result, we have determined that Biennial organisers collect books with content that is unsuitable for minors.

Pessoal, precisamos proteger as nossas crianças. Por isso, determinamos que os organizadores da Bienal recolhessem os livros com conteúdos impróprios para menores. Não é correto que elas tenham acesso precoce a assuntos que não estão de acordo com suas idades. pic.twitter.com/sFw82bqmOx
