PS4 NEWS: Microsoft's best Xbox One feature coming to Sony PlayStation in HUGE Store leak (Pic: SONY)
Microsoft fans have been enjoying EA Access since the service first launched on Xbox One in 2014.
But in the years that followed it seemed unlikely the service would come to PlayStation, with several Sony representatives suggesting that they were not interested in the service, which they described as low value for the price.
At the time of launch a statement was given to Game Informer:
“We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect.”
However, now rumour has it EA Access could be coming to PlayStation 4 after all.
A screenshot from the Brazilian PlayStation store has surfaced showing an EA access app, alongside the sentence: “EA Access now available”.
“We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value Playstation customers have come to expect”
If you have a Sony console you may not be clued up on what EA Access is.
EA Access is a paid subscription service where users can download selected titles for $4.99/£3.99/€3.99 per month.
Alternatively you could fork out $29.99/£19.99/€24.99 for a yearly subscription.
Its exciting news for EA fans, who will be able to access almost every sports title – including NBA Live, NHL, Madden, UFC and FIFA.
Of course, it isnt just sports fans who will benefit, as there are many iconic EA games up for grabs – such as Battlefield 1, Star Wars Battlefront II, Need for Speed Payback and Titanfall 2.
It's also used for early access of new games when they launch, sometimes a whole week before the normal stores can start selling the games.
PS4 News: This screenshot was posted on Reddit (Pic: REDDIT)
So far Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 are the only two “major platforms” who dont offer EA Access.
However, the screenshot, which was posted on Reddit, could lead us to believe Sony have had a change of heart.
The Reddit user who posted the image, Sabazin, explained in the thread the screenshot was not taken by him, but he had received it on a local PS4 chat group.
That means he couldnt confirm whether or not the image was legitimate, or what happens when you click the app.
But it could still be more than mere rumour – Spanish website Pure Gaming has done some digging and discovered references to PS4 in the source code for the EA Access website.
You could even test this out yourself if you want – go to the EA Access website, right click and press “view page sources”.
