Who's that pokémon?

Whos that pokémon?

A mysterious new pokémon discovered by Pokémon GO fans may offer an unintended glimpse at next years new Switch game.

A brand new, never before seen, pokémon seems to have been discovered hidden within Pokémon GOs data, and it appears to hint at many more to come.

The pokémon seems to have the body of Ditto but with a screw nut style head and a giant single eye. Its certainly a peculiar-looking pokémon, but not necessarily the oddest theres ever been, especially compared to creatures like Magnemite or Unown.

And while the body in particular makes it look only half-finished, fan Chrales has discovered that the creature seems to have a proper 3D model and animation – suggesting its more than just a random glitch.

The theory is also helped by the fact that fans were already warned that a recent Pokémon GO trailer included a reference to a never-before-seen critter.

The pokémon is currently labelled as Kecleon, which is another unrelated pokémon, but its assigned the unique number 891.

Each pokémon has a number and currently the last one is Zeraora at 807. So if this leaked pokémon is real then its number 891 suggests that theres a lot more to come.

More: Gaming

New Switch game Pokémon: Lets Go Pikachu!/Lets Go Eevee! is due out this November but it is essentially just a remake of Game Boy game Pokémon Yellow. Its aimed at a more casual crowd and intended as a bridge between Pokémon GO and the more complex mainline games and isnt expected to feature any new pokémon.

But Nintendo has promised that a mainline entry, essentially Pokémon 8, will be released next year and normally that would mean a whole new generation of at least 100 new pokémon… of which this could be one.
