Pokemon GO Adventure Sync NOT Working? How to fix Adventure Sync on Android and iOS (Pic: NIANTIC)
Pokemon Go's Adventure Sync launched last week to a positive reception.
The mobile augmented-reality game released a new feature called Adventure Sync that tracks the distance you travel without the game app being open – a massive update and something players have been asking for since the game launched.
Adventure Sync will deliver a weekly summary, where you can see your Incubator and Candy progress as well as important activity statistics.
But some players have noted that the new feature doesn't work. So here's our guide to getting Adventure Sync to work on your device.

There are three common issues that prevent Adventure Sync working in Pokemon Go, as per The Silph Road.
First up, The Game Must Be (Fully) Closed!
"Perhaps the most important thing to remember regarding Adventure Sync is that fitness data is only credited when the Pokémon GO app is completely closed" states The Silph Road.
"It appears that opening the Pokémon GO app (even running it in the background with a GO+, for example) will utilize Niantics own distance tracking. So fitness data is only credited when Niantic has no other way of knowing how far a traveler has moved with their own app."
Secondly, Adventure Sync is also affected by Speed Cap
"It appears the same speed cap in Pokémon GO affects fitness activity in HealthKit/gFit. Running or biking faster than the speed cap (10.5 km/h) will reflect KMs in HealthKit/gFit, but will not credit distance to Pokémon GO."
Finally, you should be aware of Sync Interval / Delays
Adventure Sync works by grabbing distance traveled from HealthKit and Google Fit at unknown time intervals (sometimes appearing to take as long as 1 hour between syncs – other times as frequently as one minute).
A delay between Google Fit/HealthKit data and fitness goal progress is not unusual – so if your Pokemon Go app has been closed and you've been traveling at the right speed, it's worth noting you may have to wait a little while for the results to update.
For most devices, Pokemon Go's Adventure Sync should update automatically when the game is brought up to the newest version.
If that doesn't happen, though, the guides underneath this paragraph should help you set up Adventure Sync in Pokemon Go on iOS and Android.
How to set up Pokemon Go Adventure Sync on iOS
• On iOS, open up Pokémon GO and head to Adventure Sync: (SETTINGS > ADVENTURE SYNC > TURN IT ON! >TURN ALL CATEGORIES ON > ALLOW).
You may also need to go to the HEALTH app navigate to Sources and make sure Pokemon Go is allowed.
• You will also need to make sure fitness tracking is allowed via the iOS privacy settings. So to do that you need to go from SETTINGS > PRIVACY > MOTION & FITNESS > FITNESS TRACKING and make sure the setting is ON.
How to set up Pokemon Go Adventure Sync on Android
Android Adventure Sync relies on Google Fit API data to track your distance and your steps, and you need to make sure Google Fit has permission to interact with Pokemon Go on your device.
• First, ensure you have Google Fit installed.
• Inside Pokémon GO, simply go to SETTINGS > ADVENTURE SYNC > TURN IT ON! > ALLOW and give Pokémon GO permission to access Google Fit data from the Google account linked with your Google Fit.
If Sync isn't working after that, go to your Settings on Fit and make sure Storage and Locations permissions are allowed, too.
It's also worth noting that Pokemon go WILL NOT work on Android devices if Battery Saver is active since background tasks are disabled to preserve battery.
