New Battlefield will be playable at E3 in June confirms EA
EA Play 2017 – will there be any surprises this year?

The new Battlefield game will be one of the stars of EA’s E3 plans, but it sounds like Anthem will not be hands-on.

EA has confirmed that the next Battlefield, whatever it may be called, will be playable at E3 in June, ahead of its release this October.

Or rather the game will be playable at an event that happens to run the same week as E3, but isn’t actually at the same convention centre as everyone else.

For some reason EA decided they were too cool for school last year and set-up their own EA Play mini-event at the Hollywood Palladium, a wearingly long distance from the real E3.

This year’s event starts on Saturday, June 9 and sounds like it will work very similarly to last year when Star Wars: Battlefront II was on show for the first time.

EA are also promising an ‘inside look’ at Anthem, but there’s no hint that it will be anything more than some new video footage. Which is not too surprising as it’s not due out until 2019.

The only other games confirmed to be on show are the already released The Sims 4 and ‘all the upcoming EA Sports games’, so presumably FIFA 19, Madden NFL 19, and the rest.

It’s always possible there could be a surprise reveal of something else new, but it doesn’t really sound that way at the moment.

While the new Battlefield will be playable for the first time at E3 it’s likely that it will be revealed before that, at which point we’ll finally find out whether it’s going back to a modern day setting or not.
