The Xbox is getting its own preview event later in the year, with Phil Spencer hinting that Microsoft could be announcing new acquisitions.
Sony has its PSX event in December and Nintendo has its Nintendo Direct streams, but there hasnt been any Microsoft equivalent event for years.
Back in the original Xbox era they did used to host the X0 series of events, but largely gave up on them, in terms of worldwide events, at the beginning of the Xbox 360 era.
But now X018 has been announced and its set to take place from November 10 to 11 this year in Mexico City.
The official website is very cagey about what exactly will be at the X018 event, but it promises news, first looks, and surprises in what is essentially the largest live Inside Xbox episode ever.
The previous X0 events were essentially mini-E3 conferences, which is increasingly how Sony treats its PSX shows. The event will be hosted by Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who speaking on Inside Xbox (where he also announced keyboard and mouse support for the Xbox One) said there will be both first party and third party announcements.

He also pointed out that a previous X0 event was when they announced Microsofts acquisition of Rare, which seems a not-so-subtle hint that they might be announcing the purchase of more developers.

The main difficulty with speculating what Microsoft might show though is that at this stage in the Xbox Ones life most new exclusives would presumably be destined for its successor console.
This was hinted at back at E3, but whether Microsoft intendeds to be more explicit about the follow-up to the Xbox One this time remains to be seen…
