Ive enjoyed playing most of the Call Of Duty single-player campaigns over the years, but when I heard Black Ops 4 was missing a campaign I thought this was a major mistake from Activision and Treyarch, and I had almost discounted getting the game. Also, the regular multiplayer modes spawn, die, repeat cycle just winds me up now, and I havent got the time to get good at it like the Prestige kids on the block.
However, I played the Blackout beta a few weeks back, and had a fantastic time playing it with a few mates, and am now definitely going to pick the game up. The gunplay was as solid as youd expect from a Call Of Duty title, but the open world Battle Royale format adds an extra dimension to the gameplay, along with probably hundreds of extra hours of play. Between Blackout and the Zombies mode, theres enough content there to keep me happy, although I shall still miss the single-player campaign as part of the overall Call Of Duty package.

Successful project
Im a streaming sceptic, like Terry from Wednesdays inbox, but I have become somewhat more optimistic in the last couple of days.
Two days ago I was accepted into the test of Googles Project Stream and its been very impressive so far. I have a PC that could not even come close to playing a modern AAA game (although I do have a decent broadband connection), but the gameplay of Assassins Creed: Odyssey is smooth and the graphics are striking. If I didnt know otherwise, I would have thought I was playing on a modern console.
While I am concerned that streaming may not work for games that require split second precision, I could imagine a future where I have a Switch-like device for indies and on-the-go gaming and use a streaming service for occasional AAA graphical extravaganzas.

Physical costs
Has anyone considered that the most obvious and pressing reason physical games sales should be ended isnt actually anything to do with gaming reasons but everything to do with the damage we do to the environment. Just thinking about all the pollution and destruction that must take place to create not only the game disc/cartridge but the plastic covers depresses me.
Same with people who complain that theyll never use an e-book over the real thing. Yes, its lovely to be able to hold something in your hand but with everything thats happening in the world perhaps that shouldnt be the primary objective.
This might not be the forum to be saying these things, I just think its depressing what were all doing to the planet. Ive said before that gamers are good people. We just need to start setting an example thats worth following.

Worst realm
I am sure we have had a poor sections in otherwise great games Hot Topic previously. I am currently playing the recent God Of War and Nilfheim definitely falls into that category. This procedural-generated area is a pain to play through and requires a lot of grinding to fully complete. In my opinion the game would have been better without this realm.
Fortunately, it is a location you do not need to visit to complete the games story but it is required to complete the Valkyrie side mission, acquire/upgrade some strong equipment and unlock some Trophies.

PS: It appears there are a few realms that are mentioned in the game but are not places you can visit. (Although I have not finished the story. So I might be wrong in this regard.) Do you know if there are plans to add any of these realms as DLC?
GC: Some realms do remain off limits, but the developer has insisted there are no plans for any DLC.
Pro camp
Im firmly on the side that thinks Astro Bot is a truly a great game and it has provided me with memorable moments from start to finish. If VR unfortunately sinks into another prolonged hiatus at least we can look at the era with fond affections and still play this riot of fun (Resident Evil 7 and co. too), which is more than can be said for the last VR revolution which provided nowt but stony silence and an urge to watch Jaws 3D using those free 3D glasses that were on the back of cereal boxes.
I do honestly think VR is rather healthy at the moment so one hopes for Astro Bot 2 and an Astro Lego minifigures set (maybe Resident Evil 3 VR in third person too).

I wouldve been interested in Astro Bot but I dont have VR. I dont have VR as its so much better on the PS4 Pro and I dont have a PS4 Pro. I cant be bothered to back up my PlayStation 4 and go to the trouble of selling it and getting a Pro.
And thats why I dont like in-between gen consoles, as its a two-tier system which consoles have traditionally avoided but thats all changed now.
Should wait for the in-between consoles before upgrading next time perhaps, if I can. But Im an early adopter. More fool me.

I was listening to music from various different Sega Saturn games on YouTube the other day and came across the game NiGHTS Into Dreams, which got me thinking. Surely this has to be one of the most overrated games of all time?
I remember it having many magazine scores around the 95% mark and Im sure it was on the cover of C&VG magazine along with Super Mario 64 and Quake along with the title, the three greatest games ever which led me to purchase the game resulting in great disappointment. Where you fans of the game yourselves, GC? adams6legend
GC: We never wouldve described it as one of the best games ever, but we certainly enjoyed it at the time.

I second Icemans letter about getting hold of Metal Gear Solid if youre an Xbox owner. Metal Gear Solid 3 is the pinnacle of the series as far as I am concerned. That emotional gut punch at the end is still as impactful for those that follow the story today as it was back at release.
As for Metal Gear Solid 2, I have recently replayed it on the PlayStation 3 (watching all cut scenes and codec calls) and with a bit of life experience behind me and some more understanding of the world (I was 15 when it came out) it actually makes a lot is sense and is very relevant to the world we live in today. Kojima was way ahead of the curve on that one. Also knowing how the whole saga ends helps make Metal Gear Solid 2 easier to understand as you can connect the dots much easier.
