The morning Inbox hopes Marvels Spider-Mans success will mean more superhero games, as one reader searches for a Pac-Man Pez dispenser.

Assembly time
Shame were still not going to get to hear anything about what Rocksteadys working on at the moment but I am excited to hear that the Avengers directors are going to be at The Game Awards this week, which surely means that Square Enix are finally going to unveil their Avengers game.
I think the theory for its delay is that it was going to be a Star Wars: Battlefront II style loot box disaster and they needed to take a while to change it, which is fine by me if that means we get to dodge the bullet. I assume its still primarily a multiplayer game though, which I guess works in the sense there are so many different characters.
But whats it going to be then? A PvE game where you battle faceless Chitauri/Ultron bots/whatever those things were at the end of Infinite War? That actually sounds pretty good to me, assuming they stick in some more distinctive enemies as well as bosses and the like. Although its slightly worrying that the set-up sounds very similar to Battleborne, which didnt exactly set the world alight.
Im curious to find out though, I imagine itll have a big budget and it should help legitimise superhero games again, after the success of Marvels Spider-Man.

Open the floodgates
Crazy how well Marvels Spider-Man has been doing. I enjoyed it but I wouldnt have said it was that good. Still, anything that gives us more Marvel games. Im just curious to know whats coming next. Obviously more Spidey but do Sony have any other Marvel licences? Square Enix has Avengers but does that mean anyone can just buy one of the characters and make a game on it?
Theres so many different developers you could imagine getting involved. Id love to see Platinum doing a Black Widow game, Avalanche (who do Just Cause) doing Hulk, and Sony Santa Monic doing Thor (yeah, I know itll never happen).
My point is there are lots of games already that are kind of similar to existing superheroes, so itd be very easy to just do something along those lines again and make it official. Maybe then we can get that Hawkeye game, because everyone knows a bow and arrow is the coolest weapon in a first person game.

Hope for the unexpected
Latest rumour is that not only are Rocksteady not at The Game Awards but neither are WB Montreal, so I guess no DC games of any kind. Instead the word is Warner Bros. might announce a new Mortal Kombat. Cant say Im too excited about that unless its the long hoped for spin-off. The last one pretty much perfected the formula and I dont see what else they can do to really change it.
Personally Id rather see the new Harry Potter game, as that was looking really good in the leaked video. New game reveals are always exciting whatever they are though so the best thing would be something we cant even guess at. Unless its a Star Wars game that doesnt suck, that would be nice.

Cold Topic
Ive got an idea for a topic, but perhaps too specific for a Hot Topic, a tepid topic that can be contributed to in the regular inbox?
What are the most perfect pieces of gaming memorabilia? Heres mine.
1. The backpack that looks like the Hylian Shield from Zelda.
2. The Tetris lights that are made up of seven separate pieces in the shape of Tetris blocks that all light up when stacked together.
And…
3. Pac-Man Pez dispensers should be perfect, except youd have to video one in action then play it back in reverse so it looked like he was eating the little white dots.
Also the Pac-Man Pez dispenser appears not to exist! Gah!

GC: We have run similar Hot Topics in the past but the problem is theyre not that interesting without pictures.
Passive aggressive
Ive had enough of Red Dead Online, at least until they introduce passive mode. Everything is expensive and missions only pay a pittance. The only decent way to make money is to sell meat to the butcher in Valentine.
What spoils it for me is the morons who kill me when Im trying to sell to the to the butcher. This completely spoils the experience for me because you lose part of your cargo and youre spawned away from the town, so having to start again only for the same people to kill me again. Im not enjoying the beta experience any more.

Theres always someone worse
Im not really much of an online gamer. At 49 my reflexes are shot to pieces and I havent really got the time or inclination to learn maps inside out. As a consequence I only really play single-player games.
However, I recently finished Red Dead Redemption II and, eventually, really enjoyed it. So much so I even looked forward to having a go of the online game. So, I set up my character and got to the first story bit. The matchmaking was painless and off we went. Someone took my horse and then got it injured. Then the lives were used up and we tried again. Due to the blindingly bad tactics employed by my teammates it took four attempts. The next story bit was just as bad!
Im not the worlds greatest gamer, but blimey, I was awesome compared to this lot. Finally, I was free to roam the world. On my way to a town I was randomly shot and killed. Then I was killed again by someone else. In fact I was killed, for no apparent reason, six more times on the way to a mission point. So I switched it off. And I probably will never play the online bit again.

Magic memories
You got my nostalgic juices flowing when you referenced arcades in Norwich, which is where I grew up! Id guess you were either talking about Magic City, which was a large arcade on Prince of Wales Road near the station, or Silver City near the market.
Unfortunately, Magic City long since closed down but Silver City still exists although only as a gambling arcade now. But many happy memories from back in the day!

Just later
Just wondering when you would be planning to put up your review of Just Cause 4, GC? I fear that game is going to go the same way as Darksiders III, but Im still interested in how it turns out. There seem to be quite a few reviews for the PC version that went up on Monday but I dont see anything reliable on the console versions. I guess that means they didnt send them out on time?
Thats not too encouraging considering one of the big problems with the last game was performance and they seem to only want people to review the PC version…
As weve seen with Bethesda this week, the motivations and thought processes of publishers are painfully transparent so much of the time. If Square Enix werent confident in the game then why not just delay it a few months, because even if its the best thing ever I dont see it selling well at all given when its coming out.
Personally I think they shouldve dumped the Rico character and the whole backstory and found a different way to use the same tech. The whole fermenting rebellion thing is too similar to Far Cry when the thing thats interesting and unique about the Just Cause games is all the destruction effects.

GC: We only just got a console copy, so itll be a few days yet. We think everyone else is in the same boat.

What TV do you use to review your games? Ive been led to believe good HDR is more obvious then 4K. What are your thoughts?
Jag
GC: We have a Samsung KS8000. HDR can often be more obvious, and more impressive, than 4K. Not least because 4K is only really noticeable on a very large TV.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 going to be at The Game Awards?
Royston
GC: CD Projekt have said that its not.
This weeks Hot Topic
The subject for this weekends Inbox was suggested by reader Preston, who asks what older game would you still like to see get a remake or remaster?
With games even as obscure as Toki now getting full-blown remakes, and following the huge success of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon, we want to know what games you think still need to make a comeback and whether you think they could really be a hit again.
It can be any game from any era, even if theyve still got current sequels, but we want to know exactly what you would – and wouldnt – change about the game. How much would the graphics have to change and how outdated will the gameplay seem to modern gamers? And most importantly, do you honestly think itll ever happen?
