Fortnite Save the World FREE Codes DELAYED: Epic Games price drop pushed back until 2019 (Pic: EPIC GAMES)
Fortnite Save the World has just released some very important news and whilst it covers a whole variety of topics, the headline announcement which could displease fans is that Save the World free codes will NOT be coming this year.
Epic Games had previously promised to make the game free by the end of the year, but as those final months approached we've heard less and less.
Speaking to Express.co.uk earlier this year, Eric Williamson, Fortnites Lead Systems Designer, said:
“Were still looking at a 2018 free release for Save the World. Epic tried to be really generous with the content in Early Access packs, and there have been events and items that exclusive to this Early Access period already!
“We appreciate everyone whos played and supported the game so far, and our philosophy is to do everything we can to show that to our players.”
But in today's new development diary for the game, Epic Games have changed their tone, pushing the games free release into 2019.

"We decided to move the free-to-play launch of Save the World out of this year," explained Epic Games.
"Were working on a broad set of features, reworks, and backend system scaling we believe are needed to go free-to-play.
"Save the World has grown consistently since our launch in July 2017 and Fortnite overall has experienced unprecedented growth.
"Scaling up for the legions of player heroes who will be joining the fight is key to providing an excellent experience. This applies to all of our players, old and new, so were taking the time to get this right."
Obviously, this is bad news for anyone who was hoping to get a free copy of Save the World, but Epic Games has a special gift for those to say sorry, in the form of some new skins.
"To thank our founders, both new and old, if you log in and play [Save the World] during the Fortnitemares Event, youll receive both Brainiac Jonesy and Skull Ranger Ramirez for free!"
You can take a look at the new Brainiac Jonesy skin just above.

FRONT END IMPROVEMENTS
The front-end UI should feel more like an integrated and understandable part of the game. Bringing the inventory into the front-end earlier this year was the first step, but the upcoming revamp will push things even further.
We're reorganizing menu options to make them easier to find and converting some old UI tutorial quests to use a new callout system. Additionally, were adding polish and character(s) to the menus.
At the end of this revamp we want to move more of your Fortnite experience into the game rather than in the front-end. Well release an in-depth look at all these incoming changes in the next few weeks, to prepare for the rollout in the next few months.

Youre changing a lot of stuff Ive upgraded, what happens to my invested mats?
Were working on an investment refund feature that will activate whenever we make significant changes to schematics, heroes, survivors, defenders or any other items youve upgraded. Upon launch it will be an opt-in process, we will flag the item that has been re-balanced and you choose to de-level if you wish.
We will NOT automatically de-level your items. For this first version we will be rolling out the “re-balance flag” to only Heroes adjusted by the new system, while we investigate how to grant back other materials in edge case scenarios.
