Pokemon Go fans are eagerly awaiting the spooky annual Pokemon GO Halloween 2018 event, in the midst of Gen 4-mania.

Niantic teased the release of Gen 4 Pokemon earlier in the month, and last week the Pokemon from the Sinnoh Region started to drop.

But unlike the previous Gen, many of the current Pokemon get all-new evolutions in Gen 4.

On top of this, there also plenty of new Pokemon to catch. In total though, there's 107 new Gen 4 Pokemon.

But these are dropping in "waves" and it's expected we'll get our next lot of Gen 4 Pokemon with a new Halloween 2018 event coming this week.

Niantic is widely expected to hold their annual Halloween event again this year, especially since a recent Pokemon Go newsletter contained the following message:

“Breaking news! Breaking news, trainers. Professor Willow reports that spooky events have occurred nearby. Could they be the work of a Ghost-type Pokemon? Stay tuned to find out.”

The 2017 Halloween event started on Friday, October 20, and this years Halloween event was expected to begin on Friday, October 19.

With news delayed, a 2018 announcement is expected imminently.

Naturally this would be the perfect chance to drop the next wave of Gen 4 Pokemon with a few new Ghost Pokemon.

Also, we'll probably see extra Pokemon bonuses, like extra candy and maybe a new Pikachu sporting a new Halloween themed hat.

As mentioned, we might see the release of new Gen 4 ghost type Pokemon.

This would make sense since last year's event coincided with the release of new Gen 3 Ghost Pokemon including Shuppet, Banette, Sableye, Duskull and Dusclops.

So if Niantic was to take the same approach, we could see these Gen 4 Pokemon coming out to play:

Drifloon, Mismagius, Dusknoir, Froslass, Spiritbomb and Drifblim.

Rotom is another Gen 4 Ghost Pokemon.

But given that Rotom can appear in different forms and sometimes resembling household appliances, it's not clear if he'll be treated differently and potentially rolled out as a different “wave” altogether.

It is also expected that the Ghost and Dragon Legendary Pokemon Giratina could appear for a special Halloween Raid.

The Pokemon was teased at the end of the Gen 4 Sinnoh trailer, and Halloween would be fitting to launch such a Pokemon into the game.

Ghost-type Pokemon are normally some of the hardest types to find in the game, appearing more frequently at night and very early in the morning.

So increased spawns would be certainly welcome by players, especially as it would help anyone yet to finish the Ghost-type Pokemon part of the games Mythical Discovery quest.
