Epic Games hinted they had some big news and they have: Fortnite Battle Royale will be released on iOS next Monday, although it may take a while till every gets a chance to play it.

The Android version won’t be out until ‘the next few months’ but it is definitely coming as well, according to a new blog post.

The app is promised to be the ‘same gameplay, same map, same content, same weekly updates’ as the console and PC versions and it’ll even be cross-compatible with the PlayStation 4, PC, and Android versions.

That means you can play a game on mobile and compete with other people on the PlayStation 4 and PC. That would seem to put the non-mobile players at a huge advantage, given the controls, but at least it’s an option.

Normally it’s Microsoft that’s the one that’s keen on cross-play but their connection with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is probably what’s kept them out of this deal.

(PUBG also has its own mobile versions, two in fact, but they were made for China.)

It won’t be a full public release on Monday, but from that point you will be able to sign up for an Invite List at the official website.

If you’re lucky enough to be picked at random you’ll then get an invite to download the app, with more people being added regularly over time.

As you’d imagine the game will need a fairly recent iOS device, with the supported models being iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, or higher.
