Fortnite Hoops Challenge Update 2:

Fortnite is back online, but as you probably noticed, the popular game has been made live again by developer Epic Games without the new challenges.

These, it seems, will definitely be going live at 2pm BST instead of allowing players to jump straight into the action.

So you can expect those in less than one hour – in the meantime, enjoy getting back into the game!

Fortnite Server Status Update 1:

Fortnite Battle Royale and Save The World game modes are currently down as Epic Games takes both sides of Fortnite offline for the maintenance period outlined in a tweet sent late last night.

However, as noted by the Daily Express, the challenges could be coming significantly later today and not in a couple of hours as first expected.

In fact, they might be delayed by up to six hours as noted by an in-game screenshot shared on Express just moments before the game went offline earlier this morning.

If true, this would mean that today's new Season 5 Week 2 Challenges, originally scheduled to appear at 9am BST, might not arrive until closer to 3pm BST.

What's interesting to note, is that, even if the game was to come back online early, these challenges, *might* still not be available until 3pm.

Equally, there's no telling if today's maintenance could go on even longer than outlined above. So another eventuality is that the challenges go live at 3pm, but the game is still offline.

There's no way to tell for the time being, but we should find out in a couple of hours once Epic finishes doing whatever it is they're doing in the first place.

Stay tuned for more…

Here's how to solve the Fortnite: Search between an oasis, rock archway and dinosaurs challenge

Original Story – Fortnite Challenges for Season 5 Week 2 are nearly upon us and should be going live in a couple of hours.

Of course, there's just the small matter of the Fortnite server downtime this morning for some unexpected maintenance announced last night.

The game servers will go offline at 9am BST and it's not clear when Fortnite will come back online, but when it does the new challenges will be available.

Unlike in past seasons, changes to the game since the launch of Season 5 means these challenges aren't just relevant for Battle Pass holders, but every player, regardless if they purchased the Battle Pass.

For those who need a reminder, The Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks and you can buy a bundle of 1,000 V-Bucks for roughly £8, or earn the V-Bucks in-game through various activities.

Why should you complete these challenges? Well, they help you gain XP that can be used to level up, and Battle Stars to rank up the Battle Pass. This ultimately means more free skins, gliders, pickaxes, emotes and more throughout the season.

You need to complete four of the seven challenges to get your bonus 4000 XP. The other three won't give you an extra XP, but will help you unlock a mystery loading screen that hides a secret Battle Star in the map.

One of the harder tasks presented by Epic Games this week, worth 5 Battle Stars, reads: "Score a basket on different hoops".

Those of you looking for a quick explainer are in luck. Keep reading and check out the gallery (below) to discover how to complete this new weekly challenge with minimal fuss.

In the whole spread of possible Fortnite challenges, this is a relatively new type of challenges previously unseen in the game, which required the use of the new Fortnite Toys that were first introduced at the start of Season 5.

First and foremost, before you can complete this challenge, you need to make sure that you get to Tier 11 from the Battle Pass to unlock the first basketball toy.

As mentioned above, this is a challenge exclusive to Battle Pass owners, so obviously, those without can't get to tier 11 and join in the fun.

Once youve got to tier 11 or above, you'll need to equip the Basketball toy to one of your emote spots.

Now you simply need to head to one of the many basketball courts in the game to shoot some hoops like LeBron James.

There currently nine basketball courts in the game. Below you'll find a complete list courtesy of the experts at progameguides.com"

  • Junk Junction: All the way in the north-west you can find a basketball court in the junkyard. Its in the north most portion of the area.
  • Snobby Shores: In the backyard of the indicated house is a basketball area!
  • YMCA (Indoor Soccer Field Area, West of Tilted): To the direct west of the indoor soccer field is a basketball hoop.
  • Greasy Grove: In the north western portion of Greasy Grove is a basketball court!
  • Tilted Towers: Probably one of the most well-known basketball courts is in tilted. It has a whole lootable area underneath it, so check that out after you hit your shot.
  • North West of Fatal Fields Mountain: Theres a mountain to the south-west of Salty Springs, on top of there is a house and behind it is a pretty busted basketball court!
  • Retail Row (LeBrons House): If you head to the southern most house in Retail Row you will find the home that has been dubbed “LeBrons House” because of the adjacent basketball court!
  • RV Park (East of Retail Row): In the south portion of the RV Park you can find a small basketball court area.
  • Paradise Palms: In the new desert biome, theres a basketball court towards the east portion of the area. Its on the street, in-between a couple of houses and north of the lap pool.
