A father and mother were arrested after 10 children were found living in unsafe living conditions and appeared to have been tortured.

The 10 children were found in a home in Fairfield, Calif., due to an investigation that began in late March after a report of a missing juvenile in the area. Police say the children were found in “horrible living conditions,” according to NBC Bay Area.

At least eight of the 10 children told police they were tortured, leaving them with puncture wounds, burns, bruising and injuries similar with being shot with a pellet gun. Police say the “significant torture” has been ongoing since at least 2014.

The mother, Ina Rogers, has called the accusations “ludicrous” and let reporters into her home Monday to see the conditions the children were living in. Rogers claimed her 10 children were living in the same room because they wanted to and said the scratches and bruises found on the children were normal “because theyre kids.”
