Barry Chuckles Rotherham funeral was attended by hundreds of supporters and well-wishers, following an outpouring of support for brother Paul.
But distraught Paul made the decision to flee the UK and travel 4,880 miles to China the day after the funeral so that he could grieve in private.
Speaking ahead of his first Pantomime season without his beloved sidekick, the 71-year-old admitted that he was too fragile to be around fans because he was constantly close to tears.
Paul told GetSurreys Grahame Larter: [I was fine] until people pat you on the back and say, “How are you feeling, sorry for your loss.”
Its like being a kid and you fall over and hurt your knee. Youre fine until your mum goes, “Ah love, come here give me a cuddle” and it sets you off, doesnt it?

And it was like that with Barry dying. But going to China I didnt meet one person from the UK the whole time.
It gave me time, he said of the two-week trip. I wasnt so bad when I got back and I went straight into doing [public appearances].
Barry died of bone cancer in August, only a few months after telling Paul that he was seriously ill.
But Paul says the entertainer, whose side he worked by for 55 years, was determined to work until the very end – and it was even Barrys dying wish that Paul would carry on without him.

Next month, Paul is due to play Cinderellas father Baron Hardup in Wokings Christmas pantomime at New Victoria Theatre, where he will perform for the first time as a solo act.
But the performance will still retain some of all the old charm of their famous Chuckle Brothers double act, including routines and catchphrases.
After Barrys death, Paul explained his decision to carry on working as he thanked fans for their support during the worst feeling ever.
I have to carry on, he said. As I know Barry would want me to having always been so supportive of each other in both work and our personal lives.
