No sooner has Destiny 2 started the rollout of its final Year 2 piece of content – the amazing-looking Season of Opulence – than dataminers have uncovered the game's next step: Shadowkeep.

All that we know so far about this new expansion is that an image advertising the expansion has been found in the files of the newest update (which you can read all about at the link).

It's an interesting move – many fans had assumed that the end of Year 2 would in some ways be the end of Destiny 2 since Bungie and Activision parted ways. This new expansion will be the first wholly Bungie-lead content drop and will likely pave the way for the inevitable Destiny 3.

"The next chapter in the Destiny experience arrives this fall as terrifying shadows descend upon a forgotten moon" reads the description for the expansion.

"Return to the lunar surface. Journey deep into a mysterious enemy citadel. Become a slayer of nightmares."

So far, so Destiny, right?
