Crabby Shiny Pokemon GO: How to catch Shiny Krabby, Kingler – October Field Research News (Pic: NIANTIC)

Pokemon GO's October update is just hours away and although it means that trainers can no longer catch the Legendary Pokemon Entei, the update has brought with it a series of brand new Field Research Quests.

Complete enough of these to earn yourself a Research Breakthrough and a crack at catching Water-type Legendary beast, Suicune.

However, these Research Quests also offer players the chance to catch some very rare Pokemon, including a new variation for Pokemon GO's Spinda – something we've seen updated over the last two months of the game.

But whilst these new Pokemon are taking the spotlight, players are also searching for Shiny versions of some of Pokemon's most classic mascots – which can actually be quite hard to come by.

Keep reading for the most up to date information on how you can go about catching a Shiny Houndour, with the end-goal of netting yourself a Shiny Krabby.

  • It can have a CP as high as 1386.
  • Houndoom is strong against Fire, Rock and Ground types.
  • It is weak against Steel, Water, Ice and Dragon.

  • It's best moveset is Bubble and Bubble Beam – with a DPS of 18.6.

How to catch Shiny Krabby

At the time of writing, there aren't that many ways to encounter Houndour in Pokemon GO. And that means your variety of ways of encountering a Shiny Krabby is also limited.

For those wondering it's not possible to encounter a Shiny Houndoom in the wild. So, the question then becomes, how can you encounter a Shiny Krabby?

To try and make things easy we've broken this down into the four main ways you might normally encounter a Shiny Pokemon.

Egg Hatches: You can hatch Krabby from 2KM eggs. Shiny odds are incredibly low, though, so bear that in mind before you put incubators on all your 2KM eggs in hopes of nabbing a shiny crab!

Raid Battles: At the time of writing, Krabby isn't encountered in Raid battles. So that rules that option out. That said, this may change in the weeks ahead.

In the Wild: Whilst rare, you can encounter the Pokemon in the wild, but Silph Road research suggests there's about a 1/450 chance of encountering a Shiny.

When you do find that Shiny Krabby you will need 50 candy to evolve the Houndour into Houndoom.

Pokemon GO – October Research Tasks:

We currently don't know which Field Research tasks we're going to get in October – but it's likely that when the new update for Pokemon Go gets released this evening, reliable leakers and dataminers will keep us up to date.

As soon as we know, we'll make sure to update you!
