Comic Relief has reportedly been sitting on an unspent cash pot of £117million before the annual fundraising efforts.
According to a report in todays Mail On Sunday, the most recent figures show that reserves are £23million more than the year before, despite another huge plea for donations to the worlds most worthy causes.
Making up the reported £117million total is £66 million of donations waiting to be paid out in grants, plus a reserve of £50 million in the event of an emergency.
The latter sum would reportedly keep the business afloat for six months.
A representative for Comic Relief has been contacted by Metro.co.uk for comment.

Tory MP Andrew Bridgen told the newspaper: It is clear that the famously generous British public will not be happy if their donations are merely swelling the reserves of an already well-funded charity.

It is difficult to see who the reserves are actually aiding, apart from the organisation itself. Im sure that was not where people intended their generous donations to go.
Concerns have therefore raised about how the donations are being spent.
Since the charitys inception in 1985, Comic Relief has raised a grand total of over £1 billion in a bid to rid the world from poverty.

Comic Relief 2019 raised a total over £63 million with televised efforts including a celebrity climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro and a reunion for the cast of rom-com Four Weddings And A Funeral.
However, the total was down from 2017, which raised over £70 million. The 2018 Sport Relief effort raised £38 million during their live TV event.
