Call of Duty Black Ops 4 – Update 1

As reported on by GamesRadar, there is a new version of Nuketown coming to, uh town.

Speaking about the map in a livesteam, Craig Houston, the lead writer, said: "Nuketown's always been a fun map in the zombies story, While originally it was a very small map, it had elements in it that were hinting at something much bigger." 400% bigger in fact, if Mark Maestas, one of the game designers is to be believed.

It's interesting to see this new take on an old favourite, especially given how we've seen remastered games from the series of late.

Houston went on to say "There's a lot of ancillary characters that you've met in the past, or if you've not met them you've at least heard about them, and they're gonna pop up in various ways throughout the map." Which shows a great commitment to the hardcore fans, one that will no doubt please many of them.

Original Story – Call of Duty Black Ops 4 refuses to die, which is funny, because of the whole zombie thing. Never explain your jokes kids, they aren't funny if you do.

Anyway, much like the series itself, the zombies are once again coming to get us all in the latest update to CoD Blops 4, Operation Apocalypse Z. This update is set to cover the whole damn game in enough undead to make you wonder if this is a Walking Dead crossover, but it's not, it's all CoD, all the time.

Thankfully, this isn't the story of how the game dies, but one about how it continues to live, because whenever a new update like this drops, the players always benefit.

In a post over on the Treyarch blog, the team details all of the goodies we can expect to see today, along with a little bit more detail on a few of the aspects.

We're going to be getting a new Specialist for the multiplayer mode called Reaper, a new game mode, and even some new maps. Then, for Blackout, there are two new map updates, one which covers the world in fog, and one which asks the question of "What if Alcatraz, but spooky?".

Of course, there's an update to the Zombies mode too, including a new experience and a new perk among other things.

All this excellent new content is dropping today, July 9 on PS4, but Xbox and PC players will have to wait until next week to get their hands on it. Those are the breaks of exclusivity deals we're afraid.

Treyarch say that todays new update will be going live at (roughly) 6pm in the UK, or 10am PST, in the United States. This is normally when updates for Call of Duty drop, and patch notes tend to follow shortly thereafter.

It's a pretty substantial update, so there's a horde of new information already shared which we can go through, so let's go through it below.
