Anyone with vaguely an inkling of K-Pop and gaming will know that each attracts a pretty HUGE and devoted worldwide audience.
Well, it seems that BTS are planning to really break the bank with their next endeavour as they build on the success of their first original game and release a new immersive RPG-style game.
The premise of BTS World is that the player becomes the manager of the band and has to nurture the boys and their music career.
But rather than relying on animations the band have recorded over 100 cinematics and taken 10,000 unique pictures for their venture with game developer Netmarble.
So, as well as being able to ‘foster and train’ the band (think a cross between Animal Crossing and being a real-life Simon Fuller), fans who get the game will be able to get their hands on exclusive content that no one else has.
Given that the announcement happened in South Korea over night, English-speaking fans have had to rely on translated reports and tweets from inside the press conference.
However, what looks to be one firm fact is that the game is slated to debut in the first-half of 2018.
The collaboration also seems like it will operate as a visual novel or a ‘realistic cinematic game’ which will give users the chance to ‘raise’ BTS members as their respective managers.
More: Gaming
‘We will have over 10,000 photos and 100 video clips available only through the game,’ naver reported the company saying. ‘BTS took photos, acted, and recorded the OST just for this game. This is an attempt to fuse games and other cultures.
‘I think the game should be pioneered in cooperation with film and drama performances. Starting with BTS World, we will make new attempts to combine various cultural contents and games.’
