Dragon Age 4 – its not dead!

The creators of Anthem have insisted theyre not giving up on the game, as they also hint at more Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

The world of Anthem is set to grow, evolve, and thrive for years to come, according to BioWare general manager Casey Hudson, who has revealed that the developer is ramping up the in-game Cataclysm events with new arenas, enemies, challenges, and rewards.

Anthem has been under heavy pressure ever since launch, with mediocre reviews and numerous complaints about a lack of updates. Hudson wrote in a new blog that, I know theres a lot more work to do to bring out the full potential of the game and added that, We have plans for those more fundamental improvements, but theyll take time.

He also wrote briefly about the new Onslaught update for the eight-year-old MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, which will include two new planets and a return to Corellia. But the most interesting part of the blog was where he talked about new games…

We have several other big projects in the works, wrote Hudson. I wish I could tell you more about them, but theyre mostly super-secret right now. I can say however that one of our projects has a large and growing team in Edmonton working through pre-production, and based on the progress Im seeing, I can confirm that indeed the Dread Wolf rises.

That last is a reference to the fourth Dragon Age game, which was teased at the end of the last year but has suffered a rocky development and was at one point feared cancelled.

Thats apparently not the case though and if BioWare have several other projects underway then the other is almost certain to be a new Mass Effect, as Hudson has always said thats one of the main reasons he returned to BioWare – after originally leaving in 2014.

What else they might be working on is a mystery, especially since, as Anthem proves, BioWare are not afraid to invest in new IPs.

Although whether theyd ever return with a direct sequel or reboot of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, as many fans want them to, is impossible to guess at.
