Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered coming to PS4 and Xbox One this March
Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered – forgotten creed

One of the more obscure entries in the Assassin’s Creed franchise is getting a remaster and some new content.

Although it may not be saying much, Assassin’s Creed Origins is the best entry in the series for years. And it has been appropriately rewarded for that fact in terms of sales. But the big question now is whether the series will go back to being a yearly franchise, or if Ubisoft will allow subsequent games more time to breath.

It’s too early to tell whether there’ll be a new game this year, but Ubisoft has announced a remaster of Assassin’s Creed Rogue, which was originally released in 2014 as a Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 exclusive – although it did later appear on PC.

If you’ve never heard of it before, it’s because that’s also the year that Assassin’s Creed Unity was released on the current gen consoles. Rogue was meant only for the previous gen, and although relatively competent was clearly a lower budget rehash of the previous year’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Rogue is still an official part of the series though, and so the remastered version will include all of the previously released DLC and two new bonus missions. As well as some special weapons and outfits, including one that lets you dress up as Bayek from Assassin’s Creed Origins.

The game will run in 4K on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, with a promise of ‘improved environment rendering, visual effects, and textures’.

The story is set in 18th century North America, a few years after Black Flag, and casts you as Irishman Shay Patrick Cormac – who has trained as an Assassin but during the opening third of the game switches sides to become a Templar.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered will be released on March 20 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
