Anthem - BioWare's best kept secret

Anthem – whats the big secret?

BioWares Destiny-esque online shooter is finally emerging from the shadows, as a Dragon Age annoucement is teased for The Game Awards.

R-Type Dimensions EXGame review: R-Type Dimensions EX is king of the shmups

When Anthem was first announced we, and we think most other people, assumed EA was going to treat it to the finest marketing campaign money could buy – after all its not easy to launch a brand new franchise, even with a top notch developer behind it.

And yet the games been virtually ignored since it was first revealed back at E3 last year, and despite the fact its supposed to be out in February EA and BioWare have only just announced a closed alpha – so who knows when youre going to get a proper beta.

The thing is, we were very impressed by the game when we played it back in August, and while we can understand some fans being upset that its not BioWares usual style of action role-player that doesnt mean the game itself is any less appealing.

Mysteries of the games marketing campaign aside, the closed alpha will begin on December 8 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC and will be very limited in terms of time and players.

If you want the chance to join in then youve got till Monday to sign up to EAs global playtest programme here.

Theres not much more information on BioWares information page, but they do warn that the alpha will consist of multiple play sessions over just two days – so dont expect to be wandering around doing whatever you want.

The other BioWare news today, from a separate blog, is another reference to the fact that the developer is working on some secret Dragon Age stuff.

Were excited to continue its legacy, reads the blog. Look for more on this in the coming month (though I wont tell you where to look…)

That seems very likely to be a reference to The Game Awards next week, which has already teased announcements for a new Alien game and a new title from the co-creator of Fallout.

More to the point, Anthem is going to have a new trailer of some kind, as teased by the tweet below.
