Fallout 76 is currently offline on PC with servers unavailable for the online-only multiplayer game. The game is, however, still available on console for all PS4 and Xbox One players.

This is so Bethesda can release a new update for the game on PC. If you're wondering why, this is because Bethesda has changed their plans for the foreseeable future because the development team want to "allow further testing on consoles, where we can't hotfix unintended issues as quickly as we can on PC."

The downtime started as of 9:00 a.m. EST (14:00 UTC) and obviously during this time you will be unable to log into or play Fallout 76 on PC.

Unfortunately, Bethesda has also stated that they don't currently have an end-time for when today's PC Downtime will be over.

Equally, Bethesda has also said that they will be sharing patch notes during the maintenance period. Although they haven't been shared just yet.

So you'll have to stay tuned because they should be dropping shortly.

Here's the official message direct from Bethesda:

Hi everyone,

We're planning to bring the PC version of Fallout 76 offline for maintenance and updates on Tuesday, December 11, starting at 9:00 a.m. EST (14:00 UTC). During this time, you will be unable to log into or play Fallout 76.

As mentioned here, we've adjusted our schedule to allow for further testing on console versions of the game. We're currently planning for console maintenance to take place on Thursday, December 13.

We'll post patch notes during tomorrow's maintenance and will keep you updated as necessary in this forum thread as downtime progresses. Once maintenance is complete, a new patch will be available for download.

Thank you very much!

Players will be hoping that whatever changes are made are successfully communicated to players, after it was discovered earlier this week that the games most recent update, version 1.0.2.0, included several changes and fixes which were not outlined in the patch notes.

"Shortly after the patchs release, players began to come across several changes the patch notes did not mention," explained VG24/7.

"These run the gamut, from new drop rates and limits, to fixes for certain exploits players had been making use of since launch."

"Some of the changes are understandable, and many are typical resource and economy tweaks not uncommon for live service games.

"The problem, of course, is that Bethesda failed to communicate them ahead of time, which inevitably meant players are more likely to receive the changes negatively."

Stay tuned for more details as the latest Fallout 76 Patch Notes are released today.
