Will Smith has celebrated his 50th birthday with a bungee jump from a helicopter near the Grand Canyon.
In scenes that wouldn't be out of place in a blockbuster movie, the actor shouted: "This is some of the most beautiful stuff I've ever seen in my life."
Smith said the experience was like going from "pure terror to absolute bliss".
As he hung over the chasm, he added: "Oh my God, this is gorgeous, this is gorgeous."
Smith was greeted by friends and relatives and was interviewed by Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air co-star Alfonso Ribeiro before he jumped.
Speaking afterwards, Smith said: "I am not going to be able to articulate it thoroughly right now but here's a real relationship between freedom and joy.
"There's an idea bubbling in my mind, as fear as a cage, fear actually traps you.
"My father passed just little over a year ago and there's something about the confrontation with death that makes you live life more freely.
"The freedom to just be and do who and what you are, is absolutely exhilarating.
"Life is hard. You might get hurt. Your heart might get broken. You might lose your job. But you've still got to commit."
The jump was a challenge for Yes Theory, a YouTube channel which pushes people outside their comfort zone.

It also raised money for charity through an online lottery for a chance to watch the jump in person. The proceeds will go to Global Citizen, which aims to end extreme poverty by 2030.
A Navajo medicine man gave Smith a blessing and thanked him for coming to the reservation.
