An American hip hop star has admitted carrying out a sex attack on a woman at a hotel in east London.
ASAP Bari, whose real name is Jabari Shelton, admitted one count of sexual assault at the Old Bailey on Thursday after video footage emerged of him attacking his victim in July 2017.
The Manhattan fashion designer, who co-founded New York hip hop group ASAP Mob and street clothing label VLONE, was charged with two counts of sexual assault over the incident and had been expected to contend both.
He previously denied the allegations and his lawyer said he was "extremely keen" to contest the charges and face trial after flying into the UK earlier this week.
But the 27-year-old, who has an address in Clapton, east London, instead appeared in court to plead guilty to one of them following the emergence of the footage.

Shelton helped form ASAP Mob in 2006, alongside fellow ASAPs Yams, Kham and Illz.
But the entrepreneur – whose fashion company has previously partnered with Nike – does not rap himself.
