The nights are drawing in, the air is getting colder and something is stirring over at Valve HQ. Yes, that's right, we're days away from the Holidays and we're about to see the Steam Winter Sale kick off.
Though Valve doesn't really publicise when we can expect to hear more about its sales, the company tends to stick to a pretty tight schedule – as detailed by whenisthenextsteamsale.com.
For Winter 2018, though, we're seeing Valve outright reveal when we can expect to see some of the year's best games get their price slashed entirely.
In a post on its site, Valve has revealed that the Steam Winter sale 2018 will have a start date of Thursday, December 20.
We're expecting the sale to go live at 6pm GMT TODAY
A leak from a few weeks back notes that the sale will likely last until January 3.
The sale will run concurrently with The Steam Awards 2018 – which you can read more about below.

As per Valve:
“The Steam Community has spoken, and we are proud to announce the finalists for The Steam Awards 2018 — but we still need your help choosing the winners!
“Voting will open on December 20th, at the start of the 12th annual Steam Winter Sale.
“Vote in each of our 8 categories to share your top Steam games and developers from 2018 and obtain this years set of trading cards.
“Voting closes January 3rd and winners will be announced early February 2019. Good luck to all of our nominees!”
Steam Winter Sale Games Discounts
Steam has not yet revealed what games will be on offer in the Winter Sale.
However, Daily Express notes that we saw the following games last year:
Portal 2, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Rainbow Six Siege, Prey, Elite Dangerous, Tekken 7, Inside, SteamWorld Dig 2, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War and Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.
We could see those games come down in price again, alongside games that launched this year, too: a lot of people are hoping to see Into the Breach, Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition, Crash N. Sane Trilogy and more get discounts.
