Sony has announced that they will soon be allowing users to change their PlayStation Network ID, a feature that many fans have been asking for.

It will initially become available for just a small selection of users who have already registered to test PS4 system software betas.
After the beta stage is finished the feature is set to become available to all users in early 2019.
In a post on the Playstation Blog it says that you can change your username as many times as you want.
The first change will be free but all future ID changes after that will cost £7.99, while PS Plus members will pay £3.99.
The option will be accessible in the settings menu of your PS4 as well as on your main profile page.

Players who choose to change their ID will be given the option to display their old one alongside it so that friends can recongise them but you wont be able to adjust this after completing the change.
The news has been well received by the PS4 community with one Reddit user commenting spent years asking for this but no idea what to change it to, while another said never thought Id see the day.
It is the second big feature to be added by Sony in recent weeks after it announced that it would be allowing cross-platform gameplay for Fortnite players, meaning they can play the game with Xbox One and Nintendo Switch users.
