Rage 2 is the newest title from id Software and Avalanche Studios which is due to be released on May 14, 2019.
Some players eager to dive into its colourful and chaotic open world were confused about the online requirements.
Amazon had originally listed that the game on Xbox One requires Xbox Live Gold membership, while those who purchase the PlayStation version would need to be a PS Plus member.
This caused a lot of confusion among fans, as the game is supposed to be a single-player experience.
Some were wondering whether this meant the game would have some multiplayer aspects.
But now Id Software has taken to Twitter to clear up the confusion.
“You dont need Xbox Live Gold or PS Plus to play #Rage2”

Replying to a fan, id Software confirmed you dont need to subscribe to these online services to play the first-person shooter.
Id Software confirmed: “Hey! Looks like an error. You dont need Xbox Live Gold or PS Plus to play #Rage2.
“Well make sure the product page is updated. Thanks for letting us know!”
In Rage 2 the player takes on the role of Walker, the last ranger who has to survive a dangerous world inhabited by mutants and raiders after it was hit by an asteroid.
With Rage 2 marketed as a solo experience, it's safe to say many will have been disappointed if they had online requirements.
