Playstation Mini Games List UPDATE: Bad News, Sony rules out THESE PS One Classic games (Pic: SONY)

Sony recently announced the PlayStation Classic, a mini PSOne console capable of playing 20 old school games from back in the day.

In essence, this is PlayStations wander to the widely successful Nintendo NES and SNES Mini systems released in the last few years.

However, for the time being, we only know that a handful of games which have secured a spot on the illustrious list of 20 titles thatll come pre-installed on the system

This includes Final Fantasy 7, Ridge Racer Type 4, Wild Arms, Jumping Flash and Tekken 3.

All veritable classics of the system.

Since the announcement, Sony hasnt chosen to reveal any further titles that are coming to the system.

But, rather importantly, it has made one announcement which has in the process ruled out the possibility of seeing a couple of games on the PlayStation Mini.

After the console's announcement, IGN spoke with Sony PlayStation to clarify a few details, more specifically whether you would be able to use other controllers, such as the DualShock 4, via the USB ports.

An important question, since, the two controllers that come with the system are your proper retro pre-dualshock PSOne pads which dont have analogue sticks.

But in response, PlayStation simply said:

“Peripherals for the original PlayStation or later platforms are not supported on PlayStation Classic, which is designed to work with the bundled controllers.”

Unfortunately, as IGN later points out, this would suggest that any classic titles which required the use of Dual Analog sticks, such as Ape Escape or that special edition version of Resident Evil 2, are effectively off the cards.

So you wont be seeing those titles alongside the five games already listed by Sony.

A shame, as we always loved Ape Escape and with Crash and Spyro already remastered it would have been good to see another classic platforming title on Sonys mini console.

Especially when it's not currently available on the PS4 store or PlayStation Now (although Ape Escape 2 is and that's also top notch)

Well have to keep our fingers crossed Get the Gekko makes the cut. Or maybe even Croc.

Some sort of reptile would do the job.

Either way, its unlikely youll see any updates to the console beyond launch, since Sony also revealed:

“There are no plans to bring new content to PlayStation Classic post-launch.”

So youll literally be stuck with the games PlayStation decides. Let's hope theyve got some good ones in the pipeline.
